Jeremy
Gow
Jeremy
Gow has enjoyed a lifelong passion for boating, beginning at the
age of 3 when his parents began taking him on wilderness canoeing
trips. At the age of nine, Jeremy enrolled in windsurfing courses.
As a pre-teen, he made extensive use of a family dingy, crewed
on his brother's 16 foot catamaran and the family's 24 foot keelboat,
a Cygnus.
At the age of fourteen Jeremy found work at with a local boat
rental company, teaching boating basics to clients who rented
their sailboats, canoes, and pedal-boats. He spent his entire
summer's earnings on a stoutly built 14' foot Bellbouy fiberglass
runabout with a 50 hp outboard motor, which provided many years
of enjoyment exploring the waterways between Ottawa, Kingston,
and Montreal.
After
graduating from High School, Jeremy spent several summersworking
at resorts, running recreational waterfronts, where he sailed
and instructed on an array of watercraft; Sunfish, Lasers and
Laser II's, windsurfers, canoes and powerboats. While managing
a Wilderness outfitter in Northern Ontario, Jeremy guided canoe
trips and instructed sailing courses for seniors on Georgian bay
in a 24' Cygnus Keelboat identical to the one his family owned.
Subsequent
summers spent racing aboard a 24' Hinterholler Shark and cruising
a 26' Haida in the San Juan Islands convinced Jeremy to make the
shift to a full-time sailing lifestyle. He purchased a 36' Lancer;
manufactured using a C&C hull mold, this sloop-rigged boat
combines spacious, comfortable accommodations belowdecks with
lively performance - an excellent combination of stability and
responsiveness that makes an excellent teaching platform. Since
completing the CYA keelboat instructor's program, Jeremy shares
his passion for sailing by teaching sailing in the coastal waters
of British Columbia.
